In 1959 my father Rémy cleared 10 hectares of land (inherited from my grandparents) and planted it with vines. The next year, he jumped at the chance to buy 4 hectares of vines around Château de Tourreau (Sarrians) along with a large building that now serves as the winery. Over the next fifteen years, he purchased 7 more hectares of vines.

Tragically, he died as a result of an accident in 1981, leaving behind him a vineyard with considerable potential. At that time I had recently graduated in Pharmacy and decided to take up the torch by making certain changes to the estate: conversion of the interior of the old 18th century silk-worm breeding farm, the expansion and modernization of the cellar and significant investment in new equipment. My aim in all this was to start bottling the wine that we were producing and selling.

The estate now extends as far as the route leading to the Dentelles de Montmirail ‘Mons mirabilis’ and the ‘Giant of Provence’, Mont Ventoux, and counts some 58 hectares, of which 21 hectares are located in the Vacqueyras AOP. The land is divided up as follows: 15 ha of Grenache, 5 ha of Syrah and 1 ha of Mourvèdre grapes.

The rest of the land comes under the appellation ‘Indication Géographique Protégée Vaucluse’ and is planted with Merlot, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Cabernet-sauvignon, Caladoc, Marselan and Alicante grapes for red and rosé wines, and Viognier, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Muscat à petits grains grapes for white wines.

The vines flourish in a stony clay-limestone soil, bathed in intense sunlight and exposed to the Mistral’s buffeting.
